Kroger: tests a distribution partnership with Alibaba
(CercleFinance.com) - Kroger announced late on Tuesday a pilot scheme with Alibaba's Tmall Global platform to offer certain items under its Simple Truth brand to over half a billion Chinese consumers.
"E-commerce enables Kroger to quickly scale to reach new customers and markets where we don't operate physical stores, starting with China," said Yael Cosset, Kroger's chief digital officer.
The food retailer points out that Simple Truth has become the second best-selling brand in its stores five years after its launch, with sales exceeding 2 billion dollars.
