Johnson & Johnson: challenges court ruling
(CercleFinance.com) - Johnson & Johnson has said that it is "very disappointed" by the verdict stemming from a "fundamentally unfair procedure" in a Missouri court, that has ordered the group to pay heavy damages in a case about talc-based hygiene products.
The US specialist in pharmaceutical products and medical equipment laments the strictly equivalent compensation awarded to a group of 22 plaintiffs, the majority of whom have no connection with Missouri, the group says. The amount in question would exceed 4.5 billion dollars, press sources say.
Johnson & Johnson is confident that its products do not contain asbestos and do not cause ovarian cancer, the group says, which has announced its intention to appeal against the ruling.
