IBM: wins contract from Swiss engineering group ABB

(CercleFinance.com) - IBM has been contracted by Swiss engineering group ABB to digitize its procurement processes, with the launch of a newly designed employee purchasing program, IBM said on Thursday.

The program, running on SAP Ariba and a hybrid cloud environment, aims to bring the ease of on-line shopping with the intuitiveness and speed of a search engine, IBM said.

The solution has been designed to automate the process of finding, procuring and managing ABB's supplier network, guiding users to preferred suppliers, it added.

IBM also said on Thursday that it has been chosen by Italian scooter and motorcycle maker Piaggio as part of an international project to transition the company's management applications to SAP's newest ERP system, SAP S/4HANA.

The deal will accelerate and simplify internal processes, such as order management tools and clients' requests, the IT company said.

In both cases, contractual terms were not disclosed.
