IBM: wins AI deal from US engineering group
(CercleFinance.com) - IT services company IBM has won an artificial intelligence deal from US engineering and construction group Fluor, both companies said on Thursday.
Fluor will use IBM's artificial intelligence-based systems to predict and monitor the status of engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction (EPC) megaprojects from inception to completion, the companies said, but did not disclose the value of the deal.
IBM Watson's analytic technologies and big data capabilities should help predict critical project outcomes and provide early insights into the health of projects, they said.
Large capital projects, especially in the energy and chemicals, and mining and metals markets, are often seen as particularly complex, given the enormous amounts of data they carry with them.
