Home Depot: new measures put in place amid coronavirus

(CercleFinance.com) - Home Depot has taken several measures to ensure the safety of its customers and employees amid the coronavirus outbreak, the US largest home improvement chain said on Wednesday.

The retailer said it will now close its stores early, at 6:00 p.m., to allow more time for sanitization and restocking, while limiting the number of customers allowed into stores at a time.

The company also plans to promote physical distancing practices in its 2,292 US stores by marking floors.

As far as workers are concerned, Home Depot will offer paid time off for any employee who has contracted COVID-19 until released by a doctor, it said.

It will also pay employees double for overtime hours worked.

Home Depot said it is distributing thermometers in its stores and distribution centers, asking employees to perform health checks before reporting to work.

Note that Credit Suisse on Wednesday lowered its target price on the stock, to 215 dollars from 255 dollars, while maintaining an "outperform" rating on the share.
