Goldman Sachs: names Solomon to replace Blankfein as CEO

(CercleFinance.com) - Goldman Sachs has named co-chief operating officer David Solomon as the successor of its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Lloyd C.
Blankfein, confirming recent media reports.

Blankfein will step down as CEO on September 30, and will retire from the firm and as chairman of the board at the end of the year. He will take the title of senior cairman after his retirement.

Blankfein has been chairman and chief executive officer since 2006.

Solomon was appointed co-chief operating officer in 2016. Prior to that, he was co-head of Goldman's core investment banking division from 2006.
