GM: to stop reporting monthly sales as from now
(CercleFinance.com) - General Motors has said that it will stop reporting monthly sales, effective immediately, saying that product launches, weather, and the number of selling days make them too volatile.
“Thirty days is not enough time to separate real sales trends from short-term fluctuations in a very dynamic, highly competitive market,” the group said.
As from July, GM will only report quarterly sales, saying they align better with business.
Many US companies have decided to stop reporting quarterly sales in the past few years, including the retailer Walmart and fast-food giant McDonald's.
