GM: US sales up 7.5% in August.

(CercleFinance.com) - General Motors posted a 7.
5% rise in US auto sales in August, with 275,552 vehicles sold, particularly thanks to robust crossover sales.

GM said results were led by a 19% jump in sales of US commercial fleet deliveries, with total fleet deliveries leaping 24%.

Retail deliveries rose 4%, and the company estimates that its retail market share rose by over 0.5 point.

"We had a very strong month, and grew our retail and commercial fleet business on the strength of robust crossover sales at all four of our brands," said Kurt McNeil, US vice president of sales operations.

General Motors operates the Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac brands.

The shares were up 2.1% on the NYSE after these figures were announced.
