GE: upgrade to Dolwin platform in the North Sea
(CercleFinance.com) - The Grid Solutions division of GE Renewable Energy announces an upgrade to the Dolwin platform, located in the North Sea, after two years of commercial operation.
DolWin3, a connection that supplies more than one million households with their own clean energy, has just been linked to the HVDC (high-voltage direct current) network.
“The offshore grid connection DolWin3 has been transferring power from wind generation in the North Sea to the German grid since the third quarter of 2018. The updates that have recently been tested and certified give us confidence that our grid connection will still be stable and reliable in the future as we move toward our ultimate renewable energy goals in the future,” said Marco Kuijpers, Director Large Projects Offshore of TenneT, the electricity transmission system operator for the Netherlands.
