GE: produces more ventilators as coronavirus crisis deepens
(CercleFinance.com) - GE said it has increased its manufacturing capacity and output of equipment important in the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 patients, including ventilators.
Citing an "unprecedented" demand for medical equipment, the 128-year-old Boston-based conglomerate said it continues to explore "all options" to support this increased need.
These measures include adding manufacturing lines to ventilator production and increasing the number of shifts to produce machines around the clock, alongside with hiring additional manufacturing staff, it said.
GE said it has also increased its capacity and production of computed tomography systems, ultrasound devices, mobile X-ray systems and patient monitors in the wake of the current crisis.
