General Electric: wins order in Turkey

(CercleFinance.com) - General Electric has announced that GE Transportation will provide five diesel-electric locomotives to Korfez Ulastirma, Tüpras' subsidiary, which is the largest refinery in Turkey that operates in rail transport.

GE said in a press release that “Korfez Ulastirma A.Ş. is the first private operator in Turkey to make such a purchase since the government began issuing licenses to use mainlines one year ago. Announced today at InnoTrans 2018, the agreement includes GE Transportation's PowerHaul series locomotives, which are European Standards compliant and provide world-class fuel economy.”

These new locomotives (Korfez Ulastirma currently leases five of them, which were previously supplied to the Turkish State Railways by GE), will be built in Turkey by Tülomsas, General Electric's strategic partner in the country.
