GE: names company veteran John Flannery as CEO.

(CercleFinance.com) - GE has named the current CEO of its healthcare division, John Flannery, as chief executive, replacing Jeff Immelt, who took over that role in 2001.

The diversified industrial giant said that John Flannery increased GE Healthcare's organic revenue by five percent and margins by 100 basis points in 2016.

Aged 55, John Flannery, who began his career at GE Capital in 1987, is known for corporate restructuring, his negotiating skills and ability to improve company operations.

Jeff Immelt, who replaced legendary Jack Welsh on the eve of 9/11, will remain chairman of the board until his retirement from the company at the end of 2017.
