Ford: to suspend production in India and South Africa
(CercleFinance.com) - Ford is temporarily suspending vehicle and engine production at its plants in India, South Africa, Thailand and Vietnam due to the growing impact of the coronavirus, the US carmaker said on Monday.
In India, its Chennai and Sanand vehicle assembly and engine plants closed on 21 March. Its Vietnam Haiduong assembly plant will close on 26 March, before sites in Thailand and South Africa on 27 March.
The measures follow the Dearborn, Michigan-based company's similar closure decisions in North America, Europe and South America.
