Ford: Europe sales down 9.2% in March

(CercleFinance.com) - Ford said that its European car sales dropped by 9.
2% in March, as buyers stayed on the sidelines, particularly the case for the Fiesta model.

Deliveries in its 20 European traditional markets fell to 159.600 units, while the whole European auto market decreeased by just 2.5% in March, Ford of Europe said on Monday.

This means that Ford's market share shrunk by 0.6 point to 7.9% in Europe in March.

Sales were burdened by models that include the Fiesta compact and the Kuga SUV, according to figures released by the carmaker.

By geography, sales in Britain - its main European market - fell by 7,800 to 63.900 vehicles in the past month, it said.

The shares of Ford are down 1.7% today in Wall Street.
