Ford: September sales down 43% in China

(CercleFinance.com) - On Friday Ford Motor announced a 43% year-on-year fall in sales in China in September, with the group having sold slightly less than 64,400 vehicles.

In detail, sales of Changan cars fell the sharpest last month (-55% y-o-y to 35,540 vehicles). Sales of Jiangling also fell (-15%), to 22,094 units, while Lincoln sales managed to inch up, albeit with much weaker volumes (+1% at 5,476 vehicles).

Peter Fleet, the head of Ford Asia Pacific, however wanted to remain positive, saying that he believes that Ford's new products, which have been specifically designed for Chinese consumers, will help the group to experience better times on the largest market in the world.

In China, the group's sales over the first 9 months of 2018 totaled 585,171 units, down 30% from the same period a year ago.
