Ford: US sales fall 3.1% in July

1% year-on-year - the 10.4% drop in retail sales could not be fully offset by a 25.7% jump in fleet sales.
The Dearborn-based (Michigan) car maker, however, points out that the average price of its transactions rose by 1,200 dollars in July, against a sector-average increase of just 700 dollars.
Together, pickups, vans and SUVs totaled 153,402 vehicle sales, representing a gain of 4.8%, said Mark LaNeve, vice president of US sales, while car sales fell 27.7%.
