Ford: China auto sales fell 18% in January
(CercleFinance.com) - Ford Motor said last Friday it sold 76,000 vehicles in China in January, down 18% from a year earlier.
As sales of smaller vehicles such as the Escort and the Focus fell by 18% and 44% respectively in the past month, Ford now plans to reposition its business on SUVs, luxury and commercial vehicles, it said in a statement.
The Detroit-based carmaker operates several car ventures in China, including Ford Motor China, Ford Motor Research & Engineering (Nanjing), Changan Ford Mazda Engine, and electric unit Zotye Ford Automobile, which will start operations in 2018.
