ExxonMobil: starts oil production from Guyana field
(CercleFinance.com) - ExxonMobil has started production of oil from the Liza field, 190 kilometers offshore Guyana, ahead of schedule, the company said in a statement late on Friday.
The US oil giant started production less than five years after the first discovery of hydrocarbons, which is well ahead of the industry average for deepwater developments, it pointed out.
Production from the first phase of the field is expected to reach capacity of 120,000 barrels of oil per day in coming months.
The current estimated discovered recoverable resource for the Stabroek block is more than 6 billion oil equivalent barrels, Exxon said.
