Estee Lauder: increases stake in Deciem
(CercleFinance.com) - US cosmetics group Estée Lauder said on Tuesday that it has increased its stake in the Canadian cosmetics group Deciem from 29% to 76%.
Founded in 2013 in Toronto, Deciem offers a multi-brand strategy that is fueled by a vertical structure that gives it control over its own laboratories, manufacturing facilities and distribution network.
This model, according to Estée Lauder, enables it to quickly identify opportunities, create new brands and offer quality products that are in demand from consumers.
The company owns The Ordinary, a skin care line based on simple ingredients and marketed at affordable prices, according to the New York based group.
Since Estée Lauder acquired a stake in the company in 2017, Deciem's business has grown rapidly, with sales reaching approximately 460 million dollars in the past fiscal year.
Estée Lauder says it will pay 1 billion dollars to increase its stake in Deciem in a deal that will value Deciem at around 2.2 billion dollars.
