Cisco: acquisition of a specialist in retranscription
(CercleFinance.com) - On Tuesday Cisco announced that it plans to buy Voicea, the inventor of a meeting retranscription application, to strengthen its presence in the market for collaborative enterprise tools.
Voicea - an unlisted company that is based in Mountain View, California - has developed an artificial intelligence solution that provides meeting transcription, voice search, and meeting highlights/action items.
Thanks to the acquisition of Voicea, Cisco says it intends to beef up its Webex video conferencing and online meeting product range by offering a report drafting service that is based on both artificial intelligence and automatic voice recognition.
Over 130 million people use its Webex platform every month.
The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
