Caterpillar: beats expectations in first quarter

25 dollars, compared with 2.74 dollars in Q1 2018.
EPS exceeded analysts' expectations of 2.82 dollars.
At 13.5 billion dollars, the Peoria (Illinois) group's sales increased
by 5%.
Regarding its outlook, the group has raised its FY EPS guidance from
11.75 dollars to 12.75 dollars to a range of 12.06 dollars to 13.06
dollars, as a result of the US tax reform, which increased its quarterly
EPS by around 31 cents.
