Broadcom: gets US antitrust clearance to buy CA

(CercleFinance.com) - US chipmaker Broadcom said on Friday that the US antitrust procedure has been completed for its intended acquisition of business software maker CA Technologies.

Broadcom said the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, as amended, has expired, meaning that the anti-trust procedure in the US is now complete.

The deal was originally announced on 11 July.

Broadcom added that approval by CA shareholders and antitrust approvals in the EU and Japan still need to be obtained.

The transaction is expected to be closed in the fourth quarter of 2018.
