Boeing: expects strong growth in Middle East market
(CercleFinance.com) - Boeing expects passenger traffic and the commercial fleet in the Middle East region to double over the next two decades, the aircraft manufacturer said yesterday in the Boeing Commercial Market Outlook (CMO) 2022, a 20-year demand forecast.
Middle Eastern carriers have successfully overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic by adjusting their business models and increasing freighter usage to maximise revenue. Going forward, the region's fleet is expected to grow to 3,400 aircraft to meet passenger market growth and cargo demand, it said.
It adds that the region will need a versatile fleet that meets the demands of airline and air cargo business models.
Forecasts indicate that Middle Eastern airlines will need 2,980 new aircraft worth a total of 765 billion dollars to serve passengers and commerce. One third of these aircraft will replace older models, while the remainder will contribute to increased passenger and cargo traffic.
