Boeing: Ethiopian orders 5 cargo 777s
(CercleFinance.com) - Boeing announced on Wednesday that Ethiopian Airlines has placed an order for five 777 freighter aircraft, worth 2 billion dollars at list price.
The US aircraft manufacturer said that Ethiopian already operates nine 777 Freighters with a range of 9,200 km and a load capacity of 107 tonnes, which enable it to serve 66 cargo points in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and America.
The order, which will enable the African carrier to meet the ever-increasing demand for cargo, was previously listed on Boeing's website, although the company chose not to disclose the identity of its customer.
Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding in March this year for the purchase of five 777-8s, the company's most modern cargo aircraft.
