Boeing: completes landing for Starliner module test

(CercleFinance.com) - Boeing on Sunday successfully completed the landing of its Starliner spacecraft module at White Sands Space Harbor in New Mexico.

The CST-100 Starliner has thus become the first American orbital space capsule to land on American soil rather than in an ocean, the group said.

The spacecraft's module landed at the US Army's site after spending just over two days on orbit.

Although Starliner did not reach its planned orbit and dock to the International Space Station as planned, Boeing was able to complete a number of test objectives, the company said.

Shortly after its December 20 launch and separation from its rocket, Starliner experienced an anomaly that made it use too much fuel to reach its destination of the International Space Station.

Flight controllers were, still, able to address the issue and put Starliner into a lower, stable orbit.
