Berkshire Hathaway: Q2 earnings down.

(CercleFinance.com) - On Monday Berkshire Hathaway reported Q2 earnings of 4.
26 billion dollars. This represents 5.92 dollars per Class A share, down 14.7% relative to the same period last year.

Warren Buffett's investment company's operating profit, which serves as a benchmark for business growth, fell 10.6% to 4.12 billion dollars, or 2.505 dollars per share. This fell short of the consensus of 2.791 dollars.

Also note also the turnaround in the insurance business, which made a loss of 22 million dollars, against a profit of 337 million dollars over the period April-June 2016. However, the rail transport group BNSF's earnings increased by 24% to 958 million dollars.
