Apple: UK launches investigation into app store
(CercleFinance.com) - The British competition authority announced on Thursday the opening of an investigation into Apple's App Store online shop, believing that the practices of the American technology giant could be unfair to application developers.
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is investigating whether Apple is imposing anti-competitive conditions on developers using the App Store to distribute their applications on Apple devices in the UK.
The CMA says it is the complaints of several industry players, combined with its own work in the digital market, that have prompted the investigation.
For the record, the European Commission is currently conducting four different investigations into Apple's practices, one of which concerns its App Store.
