Apple: EU takes Ireland to court over tax benefits dispute.
(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has decided to bring Ireland to the European Court of Justice for failing to recover tax benefits from Apple amounting to 13 billion euros.
In a decision in August 2016, the Commission concluded that Ireland's tax benefits to Apple were illegal and required the country to recover up to 13 billion euros in illegal state aid.
Over a year after the decision, Brussels points out that Ireland has still not recovered any of this sum and notes that Dublin is not planning to conclude the work until March 2018 at the earliest.
