Amazon: launches pharmacy services, shares up

com announced on Tuesday the launch of new pharmacy offerings so its customers can get their prescription drugs delivered to their homes.
The new store, called Amazon Pharmacy, enables customers to complete entire pharmacy transactions from their desktop or mobile devices through the Amazon App, the Seattle tech giant said.
Using a secure profile, customers can add their insurance information, manage prescriptions, and choose payment options before checking out.
Amazon said its Prime members can receive unlimited, free two-day delivery on orders from Amazon Pharmacy included in their membership.
Amazon shares were up 1.2% on this news, while shares of drugstore chain Walgreens Boots Alliance dropped almost 9% after the announcement.
