Amazon: signs Standard Chartered as cloud customer

com said Standard Chartered has signed up for its Amazon Web Services (AWS), in another notable contract win for the Seattle based tech giant on the cloud computing market.
As part of the five-year deal, the British bank will run its strategic banking systems and customer facing applications on AWS, it said in a statement on Thursday.
StanChart is also collaborating with AWS to drive its digital transformation and deliver new personalized banking services in the bank's 60 markets.
The bank's global payments system, SC Pay, and core banking system, eBBS, are cloud-native services that already use Aurora, Amazon's relational database, to store details of banking and e-commerce transactions, including micropayments.
Neither company provided the terms of the deal.
