Amazon: new logistics platform in Utah
(CercleFinance.com) - On Tuesday, US e-commerce giant Amazon announced the opening of a new logistics platform based in Utah.
The West Jordan site, which will have a surface area of over 90,000 square metres, will employ more than 800 people to sort, package and send large items, such as sports equipment, garden furniture and bicycles.
Often accused of underpaying its employees, the Seattle-based group stresses that all employees on the site will receive a base hourly wage of 15 dollars, as well as a range of benefits relating to the company's health plan, including parental leave of up to 20 weeks.
Amazon says that it already employs over 2,000 people in the State of Utah.
