Amazon: new UK fulfilment centre to create 400 jobs

(CercleFinance.com) - Online retail giant Amazon plans to create 400 new permanent jobs in the UK with the opening of another fulfilment centre in the Midlands, the company said on Monday.

The Rugby distribution centre will be the fourth Amazon fulfilment centre in the Midlands after the centres of Coalville and Daventry, which opened in 2016 and Rugeley, which opened in 2011.

The e-commerce giant now has a workforce of over 2,500 in the Midlands.

In addition to Rugby, Amazon has announced plans to open another three new fulfilment centres in 2018 - in Bristol, Bolton and Coventry.

In all, Amazon has invested 6.4 billion pounds (7.2 billion euros) in the UK since 2010.
