Amazon: unveils potential cities for future headquarters
(CercleFinance.com) - On Thursday Amazon unveiled a shortlist of potential cities for its second headquarters, which should benefit from an investment of over 5 billion dollars and could accommodate up to 50,000 jobs.
After reviewing 238 proposals from across the US, Canada and Mexico to host the so-called "HQ2," the ecommerce giant has chosen 20 metropolitan areas to move to the next phase of the process.
Unsurprisingly, the list includes megalopolises such as Los Angeles and New York, but also smaller cities like Montgomery County (Maryland), Newark (New Jersey) and Northern Virginia (Virginia).
Toronto (Canada) also features on the list.
Amazon - whose current headquarters are based in Seattle - expects to make a decision in 2018.
