Amazon: new center to create 1,500 jobs in Connecticut.
(CercleFinance.com) - Online retailer Amazon plans to create 1,500 new jobs when it opens another fulfillment center in Connecticut, the group said on Friday.
Employees at the North Haven center, which has a surface area of 855,000 square feet will pick, pack and ship items, such as electronics, books and toys. Amazon says they will be supported by advanced robotics systems.
In Connecticut, the company already had facilities in Wallingford and Windsor.
Separately, Amazon Web Services plans to expand its presence in Virginia, expecting to create up to 1,500 jobs in the State. Virginia competed with the States of Texas and Washington for the project.
