Amazon: lending program takes on new dimension.
(CercleFinance.com) - Amazon has lent over 3 billion dollars to more than 20,000 small businesses since the Amazon Lending program was launched in 2011, the company said on Thursday.
The e-commerce company explained that half of the group's items sold worldwide are from small businesses that offer their products through the Amazon Marketplace.
Small businesses are able to apply for loans between 1,000 dollars and 750,000 dollars.
Amazon.com also announced this Thursday plans to open its first Oregon fulfillment center in Troutdale, which will create over 1,500 full-time positions.
