Amazon: to adapt 'Lord of the Rings' for TV project.
(CercleFinance.com) - Amazon said on Tuesday it has acquired the global rights to adapt "The Lord of the Rings" for television as part of a multi-season project, the ecommerce giant announced on Tuesday.
The upcoming show, which is based on the famous fantasy novels written by J.R.R. Tolkien, will be produced by Amazon Studios in cooperation with publisher HarperCollins and Warner Bros' New Line Cinema.
The adaptation will explore new storylines preceding J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Fellowship of the Ring," Amazon said, and is set to debut exclusively on Prime Video, Amazon's video on demand service.
Amazon also gave today a sneak peek of its plans for Black Friday, including a Fire HD 10 tablet at 99.99 dollars, the lowest price ever for the Fire HD 10.
