Alphabet: Boston Dynamics sold to Japan's SoftBank.
(CercleFinance.com) - SoftBank has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire smart robotics pioneer Boston Dynamics from Google-parent Alphabet, the Japanese telecoms and technology company said on Friday.
SoftBank has said that the transaction is coherent with its investments in paradigm-shifting technologies and its vision of catalyzing the next wave of smart robotics.
The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
As part of the transaction with Alphabet, SoftBank has also agreed to acquire Schaft, a Japanese bipedal robotics company founded in 2012 at the University of Tokyo.
