Alcoa: renewable energy contract in Spain
(CercleFinance.com) - Alcoa Corporation has announced signing a renewable energy contract to support the planned restart of aluminium production in 2024 at the San Ciprián smelter in Spain.
The long-term power purchase agreement is with Greenalia, an independent renewable energy developer and producer.
The agreement is expected to provide up to 183 megawatts for the smelter's baseload energy consumption, which is about 45% of the energy needed to reach the smelter's maximum capacity of 228,000 tonnes per year.
