AT&T: completes giant acquisition of Time Warner
(CercleFinance.com) - AT&T said on Friday that it had completed its long-awaited acquisition of Time Warner, bringing together its wireless and fiber network with HBO and Turner's content.
AT&T's structure will now consist of four businesses: a communications unit providing mobile and broadband services, a media division comprising HBO, Turner and Warner Bros, an international business present in Mexico and South America and an advertising and analytics unit.
With the merger, AT&T is aiming to generate synergies of around 2.5 billion dollars, including cost synergies of 1.5 billion dollars, which are targeted over the first three years after the transaction.
Last Tuesday a federal court rejected a Department of Justice's lawsuit to block the 85 billion dollar merger, clearing the way for the deal to be finalised.
