SAS: April passenger traffic surges thanks to Europe
(CercleFinance.com) - On Friday SAS reported a 380% surge in passenger traffic in April, with over 1.
5 million passengers carried.
The Scandinavian airline said that the jump in traffic was in part thanks to a 190% year-on-year increase in capacity.
SAS, which has particularly benefited from an increase in travel on its European and intra-Scandinavian network, points out that flights to and from Asia are currently tricky due to Covid-19 related restrictions.
Traffic to the Far East is also currently affected by the tense geopolitical situation, i.e. the conflict in Ukraine.
However, following this monthly update, SAS shares were down 1.5% at lunchtime on Friday, although this is pretty much in line with the index of European travel and air transport stocks (-1.8% at the same time).
