SAS: selects CFM International as engine supplier
(CercleFinance.com) - SAS said on Tuesday that it has selected CFM International, the joint venture between GE and France's Safran, to provide engines to power an order of 35 A320neo aircraft that dates back to 2018.
The Scandinavian airline said the deal also includes eight spare engines, as well as a support agreement to cover a new fleet of CFM LEAP-1A engines, including spares, as well as 15 additional A320neo on lease.
The carrier - which is aiming to cut its emissions by 25% by 2025 - said the deal is part of its strategy to choose efficient engines to power its fleet.
SAS - which currently operates 44 A320neo aircraft and one LEAP-powered A321neo LR - said its fleet of A320neo is set to expand to 80 jets with its most recent orders.
