SAS: passenger traffic up 3.1% in March

(CercleFinance.com) - Scandinavian airline SAS said on Friday that its passenger traffic rose by 3.
1% year-on-year in March.

The carrier, owned by the governments of Sweden, Denmark and Norway, said that 2.5 million passengers travelled with its planes last month, about 70,000 higher than in March 2018.

SAS said that its passenger load factor - a measure of how well it fills its seats - fell by 2.8 points to 70.4%.

The airline said in a statement that European, intra-Scandinavian and intercontinental traffic fell last month, while domestic traffic increased.

The shares were up 3% on the Nasdaq Nordic market after these figures were released.

SAS plans to open 22 new direct routes and 6 new destinations from Scandinavia this summer.
