Ericsson: picked by Belgium's Proximus for 5G core network
(CercleFinance.com) - Proximus will build its 5G mobile network in Belgium using equipment from Ericsson, in a deal that will be the first large-scale collaboration between the two companies.
The Belgian telecom operator said it has chosen Ericsson to implement a new 5G "core" network on its cloud infrastructure, which will also be used for the renewal of the 4G network.
Ericsson currently has 111 commercial 5G agreements or contracts with operators globally, including 65 live networks.
