Ericsson: 5G contract with U.S. Cellular

(CercleFinance.com) - Ericsson announced on Monday that it has won a contract to help US mobile phone operator U.
S. Cellular to deploy its next-generation 5G mobile network.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Swedish group will provide U.S. Cellular with equipment and services for frequencies in so-called "millimeter" bands, i.e. above 24 GHz.

Ericsson will also provide the operator with a dynamic sharing system "Citizens broadband radio service" (CBRS) which will, inter alia, enable the operator to switch to 5G technology.

By the end of 2019, Ericsson had been selected by U.S. Cellular to provide 5G equipment and services in US states such as Wisconsin and Iowa.

U.S. Cellular plans to deploy its 5G network in 2021.
