Ericsson: selected by Japan's SoftBank for migration to 5G

(CercleFinance.com) - Ericsson has been selected by Japan's SoftBank to power the development of new 5G use cases for mobile broadband users and companies.

Under the terms of the deal, the Swedish company will deliver cloud native 5G core platform, including zero-touch operation and integration processes through container-based micro-service architecture and automation.

Last year Ericsson was selected by SoftBank as its primary 5G radio access network (RAN) vendor.

The telecom gear maker says that it currently has 99 commercial 5G deals with unique operators, and supports 54 live 5G networks worldwide.
