Ericsson: to collaborate with Nvidia on 5G networks
(CercleFinance.com) - Ericsson has joined US chip designer Nvidia as a partner, helping communication service providers to build virtualized 5G radio access networks.
The companies are collaborating on technologies that enable high-performance, efficient and completely virtualized 5G radio access networks (RAN), facilitating a faster introduction of new AI and IoT services, they said.
The collaboration will bring together Ericsson's expertise in RAN technology with Nvidia's know-how in graphics processing unit (GPU)-powered computing platforms.
The companies aim to commercialize virtualized RAN technologies allowing service providers to market new services such as augmented reality, virtual reality and gaming, they said.
