Ericsson: signs deal with MegaFon in Russia
(CercleFinance.com) - Swedish telecom equipment maker Ericsson said on Thursday that it had signed a deal to provide its new microwave transport solution to MegaFon, one of Russia's largest operators.
MegaFon - which is building the infrastructure for its future 5G network - has chosen Ericsson to develop a new nationwide transport network.
As part of the three-year contract, Ericsson will supply mobile transport solutions based on microwave system software and radio hardware, that has moved from megabit-per-second capacity to gigabit-per-second capacity.
About 40% of global backhaul connections are expected to be based on microwave by 2023.
