Ericsson: signs connected car deal with Volvo
(CercleFinance.com) - Swedish telecoms equipment maker Ericsson said it has been selected by Volvo Cars to provide the carmaker with a connected platform to enable digital vehicle services in over 120 markets worldwide for the next five years.
Although is did not disclose the financial terms of the deal, Ericsson said it is the "largest to date" for its cloud connected vehicle unit.
The services will help Volvo to offer mission-critical applications, such as autonomous driving, ahead of the commercial launch of 5G networks, it said.
