Norwegian: CEO steps down

(CercleFinance.com) - Norwegian Air Shuttle, the Norwegian budget airline, reports this morning that its cofounder and CEO for 17 years, Bjorn Kjos, is to step down at the age of 72.


With effect from 11 July, Mr Kjos will cease his operational functions but will continue to act as an advisor to the Chair of the Board, Niels Smedegaard.

Pending the appointment of a new CEO, CFO Geir Karlsen will take on the role of interim CEO. Chairman Niels Smedegaard will "take on a more active role in the management" too.

Norwegian currently employs more than 11,000 people and has a fleet of 162 airplanes.
