Equinor: selects wind turbine generator supplier
(CercleFinance.com) - Equinor has announced that Empire Offshore Wind, a joint venture between Equinor and bp, has selected Vestas as its preferred supplier of wind turbine generators for Empire Wind I & II, one of the largest offshore wind projects in the US.
The preferred supplier agreement is a key step for Empire Wind in achieving its goal of providing large-scale offshore wind power to New York State.
The agreement would see Vestas deliver 138 V236-15MW wind turbine generators with a total generating capacity of approximately 2 GW - for both Empire Wind developments.
Each spin of a 15MW turbine will be capable of powering a New York home for approximately 1.5 days.
